THE PROMOTION OF FELLOWSHIP AMONG CATHOLICS

Many Catholics in both the Church of England and the Roman Catholic Church feel isolated and threatened both by active opposition to their faith and by the apathy which is prevalent today. The Catholic League supports its members through Regional representatives who arrange local events, through nationally arranged pilgrimages and retreats and through its publications, the Messenger and the occasional Newsletter.

THE UNION OF ALL CHRISTIANS WITH

THE APOSTOLIC SEE OF ROME

The need to strive for Christian Unity has long been acknowledged, but it is only in the 2Oth Century that much progress has been made. Through times of confidence and times of despair the Catholic League has continued to work towards the particular achievement of Reunion between the Church of England and the Roman Catholic Church, while not losing sight of the ultimate aim of the of the complete reunion of all Christians. Through its publications and other ways as appropriate, the League promotes greater understanding of the Papal position as the focus of orthodox Christianity and the acknowledged centre of unity.

THE SPREAD OF THE CATHOLIC FAITH

The Catholic League embraces the spirit of the Second Vatican Council and seeks to renew the Church and to witness to the Catholic faith through scripture, tradition and the sacraments. Whilst being conscious of its long history of the defence of the Catholic faith, the League also looks forward and seeks to make that faith known to the people of the present day.

THE DEEPENING OF THE SPIRITUAL LIFE

The spiritual well-being of each of its members should be of the greatest concern to the Church. In a world which has so neglected spiritual values, the League seeks to deepen the spirituality of its members, not only through its publications and meetings but by encouraging and arranging ecumenical pilgrimages and retreats and by fostering regular prayer for its objects. This is especially focused in The Apostleship of Prayer with its own spiritual director. Details are circulated in the occasional Newsletter.
